FitnessLab Family

After almost a four month hiatus, I am back at it!

Lunch after spin and some manual labor working on our yard

I joined the FitnessLab family which is a CrossFit gym not far from our new house. I am doing just basic classes there and adding running into the mix. We also found a church that I think is going to be a good fit and they are on their fifth season of Run for God! I had never heard of it before and there are only three groups in the state of Texas and one just happens to be here! Run For God's Mission:

Preparing people to be better witnesses for Christ... Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually

Physically - Create a healthier you and make it possible to reach a new demographic of non-believers - potential believers! Matthew 28:19-20

Mentally - Learn the discipline and endurance that it takes to "Run the Race Set Before Us" Hebrews 12:1

Spiritually - Learn always to give God the glory for all that we accomplish. Psalms 86:12

Joining this group has not only plugged me in with other local runners which was awesome but it will also help plug me into to our church.

Back to being selfish

The weekend came and went all to fast. I was able to spend it in New Braunfels with my parents. I even was able to meet my cousin's new baby girl and my soon to be sister in law's brand spankin new little girl.

The last few weeks has been challenging for me...trying to juggle wedding duties, Dave changing jobs, and finding time for myself to run/workout. But Monday was a new day and the start to being selfish again. It has been nice taking just that one hour or so out of the day and hitting the road.

Monday was short and sweet to the park and back

Tuesday was a Road WOD. Every half mile I did 15 push ups and 30 sit ups.
I actually really liked changing it up while running however I just needed to watch
for sticker burrs!
Unfortunately when you live in the heart of the Eagle Ford Shale, there comes a time when everyone wants a part of the action. Our bootcamp instructor recently took a job with a well servicing company and cannot conduct classes on the regular. So whenever he puts up workouts on Facebook, I try to attend! Tonight will be an ambush workout and since I don't have to go to Life Group I am looking forward to his challenge!

Last week

So I got back into boot camp last Monday only to find out our instructor would be leaving Friday to start his new job in the oilfield today. Gotta love living in the heart of the Eagle Ford Shale!

Needless to say the combination of me not doing bootcamp for three weeks or so and the fact he was determined he would go out with a bang....I was so sore!

Tuesday I went to the gym and got in 2.5 miles on the elliptical and 2 miles on the treadmill before I headed over to kickball only so find out the game was canceled because not enough -people were going to show up to play! Blah!! But at least I had enough sense so get in some cardio before hand.

My Wednesdays and Thursdays from now until Thanksgiving will be spent in small group (my Wednesdays for almost two years now) and at church for the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace class (which I am leading) so those are going to be my new rest days.

You can find our class every Thursday at 6:30 at Cross Trails Cowboy Church
The weekend was spent doing more wedding stuff....dress fitting, picking up some little things and pictures in Gruene!

A little behind the scenes action from our friend Kendra who is our photograpgher

Landa Park

This is only a small part of Landa Park in New Braunfels, Texas.
My parents live on the edge of the park/river so I spend some mornings here
running when I am visiting. It is so peaceful. A full lap around the path is one
mile so it is pretty easy to get a few miles in while enjoying the views.

We feed the ducks daily. They will even come up and eat out of your hand.
I actually got chased by a squirrel that morning who thought I had food for him!
There are deer all over New Braunfels....seriously I mean almost everywhere you
go you have to watch out for the deer so you don't hit one!

My parents live just down the canal to the right.

With the South Texas humidity and heat you have to run early! But being close to the hill country
and under all the trees it was a very nice, breezy 5K!

And my little one....This is Bailey. Her back went out on her in February. I chose not to do
the surgery and instead do everything else I could to help her. We started not walking at all,
to using a cart, to now using a back brace. She has some fight and desperately loves to play
with her brothers. But because of her handicap she usually stays close to me or with my
mother in law.
